Grizzly Stirling Engine Kit

Post by jimlarsen »

I just finished my first machined Stirling engine. I built the horizontal engine kit from Grizzly.com. It still needs a little work, but I am pleased with it so far. The kit presented some challenges, but as you can see the end result is pretty good. Here is a video.

Has anyone else here built one of these? If you have, I would be curious to hear what you think of their crankshaft arrangement, and how you put yours together.

I'm currently working on the kit. I'm a little stuck on the 'offset crankshaft', trying to figure out how to make a 5mm wide 'head' from the supplied 3mm rod.
I'll probably not use there rod, I've got plenty of bigger stock in the shop.

Are you building the pre-machined kit, or the one that requires you to make all the parts?

I'm machining the parts. I needed a project to learn how to use all the toys, I mean tools, I've acquired
