Hi Carnot, the Solo engine looks interesting, available as solar, or diesel heating, although two or three years ago the firm was broke. tey had a 1Kw prototype, with a promise of a 9Kw one in 2008.
The one from Germany that I like is the ST05 G CNC, the early ones were built of castings, but the design is now carved out of the solid with a CNC mill. Its a 450 - 500W unit. Ian S C

So, reading through these posts there are no smallish units available? I was thiking of getting one hooking it up to a generator and then producing some power from burning wood, etc.

I don't have the time to build my own unit. Is there a used market or anyting similar out there?

I saw the motor in 2002 at the Hannover Messe (Trade Fair). A picture from the brochure
is attached.

Does anyone know about the size of the cylinders?
