Plans for a 10kw fresnel lens free piston harwell stirling engine

Post by youarenotwelcomekhan »

hello, found out about this site on reddit.
Was planning to design a 10 kw stirling engine with fresnel lens. I wanted to do the free piston design known as harwell thermo mechanical generator. Came across some formulae for free piston stirling engine made by Baele and west. But wanted to know its feasibility for running a 10 kw generator. From my calculations, I need to generate 400 Nm torque to drive the 10 kw generator. Any directions guys?

I have never seen or heard of a fresnel lens that large. I believe that the very best case scenario is a lens of 25 square meters, that is calculating 1 kw of solar energy per square meter and a maximum efficiency of 40%. Of course that only addresses the challenge of the heat source.

I have seen a 10W TMG. I can only imagine the size and the noise of a 10kW unit ! :geek:

It sounds like a herculean task.

The TMG was designed at Harwell by E. H. Cooke - Yarbough. One of the forum members Barumman has built one, and there are U tube vidios of it, have a look at them.
