Problem with alpha stirling

Post by Nicolas »

Hello Everyone,

For school we built an alpha type stirling engine. But for some reason it doesn't want to move, maybe you have an idea or we missed something. Any input would be great!

As we put the boiling water in the first cilinder, and also cold in the second. Timing right everything, but it would simply not turn over.

I think you may have problems getting enough power to over come friction in the motor with only hot water temperature. What is the rope work?

We are obliged to use a chemical reaction for the project. It doesn't get any hotter than 100°C.

So we test it with boiling water

Is there a tube connecting the hot and cold cylinder?
