I saw this model engine on eBay listed for only 20 usd from China.
Looks propane powered and similar to the Thermo antique engines. I didn't buy as it seemed too good to be true. Anyone know about the engine?

There are many types of Stirling engines. Alpha, beta, gamma etc

Re: First Sterling Finally Running
Have the model be vertical with hot side down. Less friction.

A YouTube video available? Looks awesome by the way.
As a test, maybe put a bead of playdough in the groove? I wonder if it would run faster or slower...
I didn't realize solder sticks to stainless...

Re: First Sterling Finally Running
Of my Stirlings, the one that can run and run is an alpha in a V layout. This keeps the cold cold and the hot hot.
Gamma layout is a poor one. Alpha came later and let's face it. It is more advanced. Why monkey with poor designs?

Re: Power producing low delta T state of the art?
What was so revolutionary about your Stirling engine? You had a year to patent that but that timeframe expired long ago.
So you might as well share the idea.

Re: Volum alfa model
Very good looking model. Thinking the issues may be air leaks or friction... I worry about the wood sealing, I'd use hose instead. If you remove the transfer pipe, does the engine freely spin with almost no friction? While it madly spins frees, if you block the ports does the engine quickly stops? I...

Please post a picture.
With the head vented, the flywheel should spend like crazy.
With the cylinder head sealed, the piston should not slide out on its own.

Re: Reversible alpha model??
Lol, after sleeping on it, it's obvious! It's 90 degrees relative from the vantage of the heat side, so it doesn't matter.
I do suspect Superior cooling as well.

As for low temperature, the phase angle matters: http://www.stirlingengineforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2206 With a gamma Ltd, the cylinder volume between the hot and cold sides is the same as well since both are contained in the displacer cylinder. Since the pressure differential from LTD Motor...

Reversible alpha model??
This model on eBay is marketed as reversible: 'Designed in Dual heating tube which works in "alternative" - when one tube is heating, another tube will work as radiation, it works in alternative and engine running in reversible direction.' It's a 90v alpha. Would the displacement offset 90...

Re: Heater & Regenerator Design
Awesome! It would be interesting to try a few different phase angles to see differences in output.

What are the dimensions? And I noticed that your piston has a much thicker amount of graphite and mine does. How did you connect your connecting rod to your piston?

Watts vs amps? Are those two comparable? With Amps you need volts to get watts

Online one can find a photocopy of the original article that was written back in 1950s about this.
Essentially at the top and bottom Strokes theres a vent to clear excess vacuum or excess pressure in order to allow the flywheel to continue the cycle.
