Here is a picture tutorial for building the big thermal lag engine. If you have any questions just ask. The file was too big to upload directly to the site.

thermal Lag with rocket stove
The rocket stove seems to do better than the propane. I'm getting ready to make an attempt to pressurize. I'm going to have to make an airtight crank case. http://youtu.be/tXbXcl8yb0c

Re: Thermal lag generating electricity
I tried a smaller motor and it did not work well. The motor I am using seems to be a good match after all. I also am unsure about pressurizing this type of engine. One concern I have is an increase in pressure when the piston moves outward. This occurrence does not happen under normal atmosphere. Pe...

Re: Thermal lag generating electricity
Thanks! Yes it's a vw beetle cylinder. 87mm. The generator is a 5.5 amp 12vdc motor. It's too big for this engine. the dc motor has quite a bit of resistance with out a load. I need to get my hands on 2 amp 12 volt motor. I am also trying to figure out an easy way to pressurize the engine.

Re: Thermoacoustic engine restrictors
Hey Dick, I have hundreds of hours testing this type of engine. Many times I have had to walk away from testing for months at a time. Too many variables begin to consume my thoughts to the point where I dream about it. Be careful! With that said I can confidently say that acoustics have nothing to d...

5kw seems like a lot of power for the size.

Re: My stirling engine project
It will create more dead space. That will decrease power.

Re: HHO, woodgas, OTTO alternative
Hey, I have been wanting to comment on this for a while. I have built several wood gas generators over the last eight years. The only way I have found to eliminate the tars is to use charcoal or wood with a good filtering system. When using biomass/wood, The end result is charcoal (glowing carbon). ...

Re: large lamina flow build
This engine will mount to my rocket stove very soon. I am thinking of making a shroud and using the fresh air intake of the stove to pull air through the shroud.

Re: large lamina flow build
Yes, The heat exchanger has much room for improvement. I have used a small pump to drip water over the cylinder and It will sustain 950 rpms. Eventually I will make a cylinder with a water jacket. using the vw cylinder makes this engine very easy to build and it does run a very long time without wat...
