Re: 3D printed marble stirling
Hi Alan, That's a fun thing! Nice work! I have a few questions. I looked at your thingiverse pages, also your other 3D-printend engine. The files are for Openscad, and I see .stl files for printing. Can you send files in another format? At school we use Solidworks. I can open .Stl files, but then I ...

Second part! : Part 2
Just a quick insight into a few changes I made.
It are all little changes, but I want this engine to be a lot better than the previous.
Next part will show the start of the Solidworks drawing!

Re: Design for the beta tye stirling engine
Really nice design! Would like to hear some more specs as asked for in the comments above.
Also would be really nice to post updates when building. Would be really nice to follow the build.

Re: Boron Nitride as a lubricant
Interesting material ! If someone is interested and want to test It, Just wanted to note that there are much smaller quantities being sold on amazon. In a smaller quantity it isn't really that expensive.

Re: Cross section size.
Interesting question. You would have to know some more parameters for setting up an equation. I think that is doable.
Would the influence of the dead air volume be big? If I made an engine, I wouldn't go big or small, more inbetween.

Here is the first video, just an introduction to the rebuild, and hoping that people get interested and follow the rest of the video's.

Re: 2-cylinder Gamma - project
For the displacement i just tested how big a displacement i could make with the diaphragm. The displacement of the displacer must be around 1.5 times as big. So i multiplied the displacement of the diaphragm with 1.5 and that's the displacement of the displacer cylinder. With that information i coul...

The only problem with the N-log program is that it isn't fast enough you say?
Don't know any other programs, but i'll follow this thread to see if something pops up. Really interested if there is a good program

Krijn

Hi Rad!
Just saw your video today. Your engine runs really great!
Like to hear how it went from that video, and also like to see your research project if possible. Very interesting!
Regards,
Krijn

Re: Solar powered Gamma Stirling Engine
Marco, That is extremely beautiful! New mirror is awesome! I watched the video and it runs really nice. Very beautiful engine and setup. It looks really professional designed. I assume it is your own design? Did you draw it i a CAD program first? Hope you can get some more electrical power out this,...

That looks really good!
I'd like to see some video footage of that!
How did you make the parabolic mirror?
It seems to me you glued very many little mirrors on a dish or something?

Krijn

Re: rules/specifications of designing a stirling engine
It's a good idea to start with a tin can stirling engine. I also started with one. You can look on Youtube, lots of video's about these engines. For bigger engines, i made a 2-cylinder stirling engine with a diaphragm. A piston is better but not so easy to make. It must be airtight and also slide ea...

Re: Using Toy Stirling as a Heatsink on a lowish TDP CPU
Hi, Sorry, I made a mistake with copying the URL. I updated my previous post, so it's now correct there. You could also try searching Ebay, there are more Chinese sellers on there but i doubt if you would get a better price there. Disadvantage is the delivery time. China is far away. I get my goods ...

Re: Using Toy Stirling as a Heatsink on a lowish TDP CPU
Chance, so if I put an ltd a top a processor capable of hitting 70C and I tried to hook up a 5v dynamo I wouldn't get much current out of it? That's right. The engine hasn't much power, so you can't put much load on it, and wo you won't get a usable amount of power out of it. I buy stuff from China ...

Re: Stirling Engine driven vehicle
Hi Chriske, Thank you for your reply! 175 watts of power isn't that much, but when you ride a bicycle (wich is often in The Netherlands) you produce 100 watts of power, at a continuous speed of about 20 km/h I understand that it is not cheap to make such an engine, but when i think it's worth it. Wh...
