Re: found: outboard stirling boat motor pictures

Here, directly from the horse's mouth

"The efficiency is 4% overall, gas in to power out. The heaters are folded and so can not cope with pressurization. Having aquired some design tools, I hope to modify and improve it."

The efficiency of that engine is disappointing.

Re: Easy way to make a piston

You can buy very short (1.5 inches, 2/3 inch ID) copper joins for less than 50cents at home depot. I grease the inside with vaseline before stuff it with eproxy.

I wish my barbecue has a rotisserie.

How is that for a stirling engine application? A tiny stirling takes a very small amount of heat from a barbecue grill and direct drives a rotisserie. A tiny generator can also be attached to the stirling to power a few white LED lights for the evening so I can how the food is being cooked. Question...

Re: Crank case

That will make it much more complicated. Oiling and Sealing the crank case is very big challenge. A double acting gamma type engine with two displacer cylinder would be easier to design and produce.

Crank case

Hi,

Been running some stirling engines under 1Bar. If charging the engine to a higher pressure is desired, is it necessary to charge the crank case as well?

Thnx

Re: "Hi" We are new here!

Hello,

I am new. I am in software and interested in stirling engines on boats and planes. Currently building a low temp stirling, and will build an alpha with precision machining tools.
