Re: Developing a 1000w generator based on approtechies' design

I do not believe it is possible to share SketchUp 3D files via this forum. If it is please advise how I can do so. This first images show the 360 rotation of the single cylinder test engine crank and the linear displacer actuator cam. I have omitted for all of the supporting structures. The hot cap ...

Re: Developing a 1000w generator based on approtechies' design

Blaf, You have already contributed to the project by simply replying. In checking your previous posts I ran across a video you linked to regarding snifter valves. The efficiency increase appears to be a very good return on a small investment. It will be incorporated in this design. I also note you l...

Developing a 1000w generator based on approtechies' design

Approtechie appears to have developed a decent and simple to build single cylinder 200w engine which is a good place to start IMO. I am not alone in wishing Approtechie had created "blueprints" for his simple to fabricate engines. Accordingly it is my intention to provide CAD drawings and ...

Re: Displacement ratio for double acting 4 cylinder stirling

Thanks for the reply.
The link you provided appears to be for all but alpha type engines.
The 4 cylinder double acting stirling engine is an alpha type.

Displacement ratio for double acting 4 cylinder stirling

I am designing a 4 cylinder double acting Stirling engine and double checking the info regarding displacer and power piston displacement ratio as 1:1.

Is this correct?

Re: Square pistons/cylinders

I agree that trueing the radiused corners inside the "cylinders" is more difficult since they cannot simply be bored true. Reciprocating rather than rotating tools must be used. I am depending on the piston sheathing (graphite for the top third and Teflon for the bottom third) which can be...

Re: Square pistons/cylinders

I agree that square steel tube is never actually "square" but machining it to true dimensions is pretty simple. I have some experience with Stirling engines and prototype design and fabrication having owned a prototype fab shop for about a decade in my 30's. Only the interior of the "...

Square pistons/cylinders

I am in the process of designing a 4 cylinder double acting radial stirling engine. To simplify fabrication I hope to use square structural steel tubing for the pistons and cylinders. The pistons will be sealed with teflon "overlays" on the four sides that contact the cylinder walls and th...

Re: High powered Stirling going into production

I attended a 3 day technical training session for Inresols gensets in Gavle. I have seen them run on wood pellets, taken them apart, etc. The factory was in the process of scaling up for larger production levels. Currently they appear to only be selling to a limited clientele who need them to prototy...
