Re: Low Temperature Differential Stirling engine plans

Thank you for your quick response. The displacer is made of polyurtherane foam. The cylinder's are both polycarbonate. I have found no air leak in testing and the piston seems to have little friction. The biggest problem at this point might be the thickness of the plates. I don't understand why that...

Re: Low Temperature Differential Stirling engine plans

Thanks Ian! I have now completed machining the project! I am currently in testing/finishing the project and it is not working, even at high input heats (I am using a hot plate). That being said I plan on continuing to sand down friction areas and use lubricant for the shaft on my final presentation....

Re: Area for air passage b/t displacer cylinder and powerpis

Thanks Ian, I adjusted the volume swept for both pistons to about 10:1 ratio, but this required changing my piston volumes. does drive piston weight affect the engine performance, especially for LTD engines?

Low Temperature Differential Stirling engine plans

Hello, This is my first time making a Stirling engine and I am trying to make the low temperature differential gamma model. I recently finished my own 3D design but I still have many questions and I would really appreciate someone with more experience to look over what I have so far. Hopefully I am ...

Re: Plans call for brass, want to use aluminum instead

I am looking for a cheaper alternative to brass for a flywheel, any ideas? (for a LTD engine)

Re: Area for air passage b/t displacer cylinder and powerpis

Does the same rule of thumb, -displacer swept volume should be 1.5 times the volume of the power cylinder- apply for Low Temperature Differential Stirling engines?

Nevermind, got it guys thanks!

Re: "Hi" We are new here!

Hi guys,

My name is Ben and I am working on an LTD Stirling engine for a manufacturing class! I have tons of questions and I look forward to talking with you all!
