Re: Stirling essex - beta or gamma ?
One major difference...hot gamma has more output for same regen than cold gamma and hot beta has more output for same regen than cold beta. Even with excellent regen, this is usually a big difference in overall efficiency. An alpha has the lowest regen and the best torque (everything else equal). C...

Re: Stirling essex - beta or gamma ?
Beta vs gamma vs alpha - just buy Allans book.
They are same, and could be transformed to same mathematically equal gas path. Except some betas with high "minus" volume.
But all else - yes.

Re: Stirling essex - beta or gamma ?
So many time passed since my interest in essex stirling.
So - no, it is not a beta, it is hot end connected gamma stirling. Some better usage of working fluid compared to plain gamma.

Re: Why can't I "just buy" a stirling engine?
Hello. I do have a lot of conversation with Victor. He really do try his best to make power producting engine. Because this a product, not a toy, he did limit temperatures and tried to make it as cheap as possible. Hence oil lubrication and air compressor conversion. And slow transmission from finne...

Hello ! Some active user with active thread detected. Also have this china made air compressor as a starter - but making new case is not the hardest thing, compared to other parts, especially hx. But it may allow to make other parts easier and better + better geometry. My first engine which run, was...

Re: Rombic Drive - geometry design and gear selection
Hello.
You could use double sided tooth belt too. Gears have to be super precise and backslash free for rhombic engine.
I did tried try them - not for my mechanic skill.

Re: Why can't I "just buy" a stirling engine?
Answer is simple - it is much more expensive per watt compared to ic. I know, i tried it. Still have idea to make them in kit form at useful power level. But it is still in a 1000-2000 usd area for mere few hundred watts. I don't know, I could be wrong, and it might not work at all, but from what l...

Re: Pressurization & Lubricating oil
Mine two cents. For air engine, we need not only air, but also a kind of air preparation system. At lest dryer. So - put after dryer, deoxygenator of any kind. Ordinary steel sponge heated to 800 degree or like will do the trick. And working with nitrogen and some other gases - is totally safe with ...
